James Lumley, Sales Manager of Sunseeker Southampton is delighted to announce the successful handover of yet another new Sunseeker here on the UK South Coast. This stunning 86 Yacht is now the largest Sunseeker in the UK – proving that our home waters are attracting a greater number of large yachts than ever before.
“HARD 8” has been a truly special project, commissioned by her Sunseeker advocate owner in mid 2016, she has taken almost a year to produce. As an upgrade from the hugely popular 75 Yacht, we wanted to take the best features of the 86 and add bespoke detailing and a level of specification never seen before on this model. The result is simply breathtaking. She is by far the highest specified example of this model ever built and a testament to in-house designer Stuart Jones and his design team, who have achieved exactly what the owner was looking for.
Moving away from the more classic Walnut/Natural oak finishes, a contrasting theme of satin Wenge combined with Silver oak detailing give an opulent yet a homely feel to the interior. Hand-picked white Wenge stone adds contrast to the dining and saloon areas.
Working alongside the technical design team, a revised interior layout was created to open up the galley area and modify the twin lower deck cabins, to give permanent double guest accommodation. The crew quarters were also re-designed into a private owner’s suite – with the same fit out detail seen throughout the other accommodation. This has been cleverly done so as to allow the retro-fitment of crew berthing, should a future owner have different needs.
Focusing on the exterior, there is the addition of a large hot-tub on the fly bridge with surrounding sun bathing area, an uprated 800kg capacity remote controlled hydraulic bathing platform to take the Williams 520 jet tender, twin anchor winches, a Flir thermal imaging camera, carbon fiber opening fly bridge hard top and much more.
Powered by the largest twin 1,950hp MTU diesel engines, she has a top speed which defies her vast size, yet with the proportional controlled hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, she is easy to manoeuvre in the tightest of spaces. Zero-speed fin stabilisers allow opportunity for overnight stops on the anchor – a key feature for the owner as he plans a venture down to the Scilly isles and up to the remote Scottish isles in future seasons.
It would be impossible to list all of the unique features on this yacht, from the custom galley equipment to the advanced Simrad navigation setup, all areas have been carefully planned out and executed to perfection.
As a commercially coded vessel, there is the opportunity to sample unique days onboard as a part of the newly founded, soon to come: Sunseeker Experience – working alongside the recently delivered Sunseeker Manhattan 52 “BETSEA”. Both vessels are based out of Lymington Yacht Haven in the picturesque New Forest and can be combined with fine-dining cuisine, helicopter transfer and luxury overnight on-shore accommodation.
